Would my Fardh Hajj be absolved if I merely perform Umrāh? Can my Umrāh become a substitute for my Fardh Hajj?

Question

I wanted to ask that if I do Umrāh instead of Hajj, would my Hajj still be Fardh upon me or would it be absolved? Will my Umrāh become a substitute for my Hajj?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If Hajj is mandatory on any individual, then the mere performance of Umrāh will not absolve him of the obligation.[1]
