Is Ghufran a name of Allah?

Question

Is GHUFRAN a name of Allah?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

Ghufraan is an Arabic root word (Masdar) which means “To forgive/to conceal faults”[1]. It is not a name of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala). However, the words “Ghaffar and Ghafoor (Great forgiver)” are the beautiful attributes of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala).

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
