Company investing in a pension scheme

Question

My father worked in a company for 20 years. A percentage of his wages each month went towards a pension scheme. The company matched my father's contribution. For example if my father gave 3% the company would match that and also contribute 3%. This scheme was optional. If someone was not part of the scheme then the company did not make any contributions.

My father has now retired and receives a pension. Is this pension permissible or impermissible.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Our understanding of your query is that 3% of the money will be invested by the company and 3% will be deducted from your salary for the pension scheme investment. In order for us to advise you, inform us where will the money be invested?

You may send your query to admin@daruliftaa.net
