What does islam say about throwing litter?

Answer

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'Purification is half the
faith.' (Tirmidhi)

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) also advised to keep one's backyard
clean. Throwing litter is contrary to the Islamic spirit of purification and
cleanliness.
