Commission as a doctor from companies and labs

Question

I am a mbbs doctor,if i prescribe a drug to my patient and order to do blood examination,ECG,X-RAY,ULTRASONOGRAPHY etc etc,then company and laboratory give us some benefit(comission) and gift.they tell us that its our right to take money(comission) and gift as it is provided to us according to thier rule & regulation.whether its halal or haram to take it.if we dont take it,they take it thier own.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for you to receive commission from companies and laboratories for prescribing their drugs and facilities to your patients. However, in doing so, you should have the best interests of your patients at heart.[i]

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
