Working As A Police Officer In A Non- Muslim Country

Question

I wanted to know if, according to Hanafi Madhab, it is ok to work as police in a non-muslim country. Provided one won't spy on muslims, only work in the security field?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for one to work in the security field of the police force in a non-Muslim country provided one does not indulge in sins such as bribery, extortion, and oppression.[i]
