What is the ruling for news sites that have ads of ghairmahram women?
Question
Is it permissible to watch news websites on the internet? There are so many ads displaying ghairmahram while reading news. So is it permissible to read from those news sites?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.
A person using the internet to read the news should look for websites that do not have ads. There are numerous extensions and ad blockers to ensure that ads are not displayed in the browser. All internet browsers generally have a setting to ‘hide all images’ and to display only text, this should be enabled if a person fears that he will be inundated with images of impermissible content.
