Please let me know what colors are not allowed for men to wear and what are not according to Shariah rule?

Question

Please let me know what colors are not allowed for men to wear and what are not according to Shariah rule?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is Makrooh Tahreemi (Highly reprehensible) for men to wear red and yellow clothes which are specifically dyed with safflower (Carthamus tinctorious) and Saffron.[1]

However, it is Makrooh Tanzeehi (undesirable) for men to wear plain red clothes which are not specifically dyed with safflower.

If the red or yellow color is broken up with another color, it will be permissible to wear such clothing. For example, Arab shawls which have a mixture of red/yellow and other colors.

It is permissible for men to wear clothes with all other colors.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
