Can women wear jewlery around the ankle, like a chain?

Question

I heard from someone that its forbidden in islam as during the prohets time, prostitutes should wear a chain around the ankle to indicate that they were prostitutes.

Answer

A woman may adorn herself with jewellery as she wish, around the neck, ears,
hands as well as around legs. However, if wearing jewellery is a salient
feature of any religion or custom, she should not imitate them.
