Fatwa #21909 February 2001South Africa

I have heard that a husband is not allowed to carry the janaza of his wife as well as enter the grave during burial. Is there such a thing and why?

Answer

It is permissible for a husband to carry the Janaaza of his wife as well as
enter the grave during burial. However, direct skin contact after the demise
of the wife is not permissible due to the termination of the Nikah
(marriage). (Ahsanul Fataawa vol.4 pg.255)
