Question on Sajdah Tilawat

Question

Assalamwalaikum,

In the masjid here I have noticed that many of the people who lead salat dont make Sajda Tilawat during salat. Do any of the madhabs consider this to be optional? What are we supposed to do if the Imam does not make Sajda Tilawat during prayer?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

According to the Hanafi Mazhab, Sajdah Tilawat is Wajib.

According to the Shafi Mazhab, it is Sunnah.

It is possible, the Imam’s of the Masjids in reference follow the Shafi Mazhab.

A Hanafi follower will be absolved from making Sajdah Tilawat if the Imam does not make Sajdah Tilawat.
