Can a child be named Muiz?

Question

AoA! "Muiz" is one of the names of Allah (SWT). I found the name "Moeez" on the internet which means Respectful. Is the name with the spell "Moeez" correct and can be given to a boy? If it is correct than what is the origin? Please advice. Jazakallah!

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.

The name Muiz is a name of Allah Ta`ala which is spelt Muiz in English and مُعِزّ in Arabic and means one who gives respect.[1]

One may name his child Abdul Muiz (عبد المعِزّ) which means the servant of the one who grants respect.[2]

And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.
