Fatwa #206225 January 2001South Africa

A sunni couple got married and after some time the husband changed to shiasm. Is the marriage still valid since the girl is still sunni?

Answer

Contemporary Ja'fari Shi'as have beliefs that are inconsistent with the Qur'
aan and Ahaadith. Hence, they are not Muslims. Kindly refer to Shi'sim
unedited / Unbridgeable Divide at www.ask-imam.com

The Nikah has terminated from the time the 'husband' became a Shi'a.
