Creating a video game
Question
Is it permissible for me to create a video game? If so is it permissible for me to create the game but not be involved in the part that creates characters as it involves creating faces?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
1. Story writing
2. Art and designing
3. Programming
4. Testing
5. Music composing
Your question is ambiguous; therefore, please resubmit your question outlining which department is relevant to you.
Never the less, in principle it should be permissible with conditions:
1. The game should not have any animate pictures (which you have stated).
2. It should not have music.
3. It should be free from any lewd or vulgar language.
4. It should not promote immorality, decadence or evil.
5. There should be some Shar῾ī benefit to the game.
