Is hijaab compulsory?

Question

I wear a hijab but I have also heard people say that it is not compulsory to wear a hijab in islam, so I wondered why do all these muslims wear hijabs when its not compulsory and make it llook as though it was I myself believe that wearing a hijab is compulsory but I would like to know the real answer I have asked other scholars and they say that the quran does not state that you have to wear a hijab but only to cover your body.

You are correct in saying that wearing Hijab is compulsory (in the presence of unrelated men). All the jurists and scholars of Islam agree on this.

If we are wearing salwar which has a long piece of extra cloth which perfectly covers the bosom, should we still wear the head scarf in a way that covers the bosom.
