Can a woman peform Hajj during her Iddat period?
Question
slm. when the husbands dies, is it permissible still for the wife to perform her fard hajj, when the hajj period falls within her 'idah period even though she has a mahram?
Answer
In the name of Allāh, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh
If a woman is in her ῾iddah, she can not go for Haj. This is irrespective of whether the ῾iddah is due to the death of her husband or because of divorce. Therefore, she will have to go next year accompanied with a mahram.
