Eid functions in the Church
Question
1)Is it permissible for muslims to keep a Eid party in a church or church hall, the reason being is that its cheaper to hire a church ?
2)I heard that that the devils live in places like a church,so muslims should not keep functions in a chuch because the devils may cause harm is this true?
3)If a person is invited to a Eid party which will be held in a church or chuch hall should a person go?
Answer
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
At the outset, it is Makrūh (detestable) to enter a church or any other non Muslim place of worship. One should abstain from hiring a church or a church hall for having any functions. These are such places in which the anger and wrath of Allah Ta῾ala descends and it is also a gathering place for the devils. The effect of this environment will befall one by attending them.
