I have a piece of land which is not under my use currently so Is Zakat compulsory on this land?

Please let me know because I do not give any zakat for this land as I have not build anything on it yet . Wasalam.

Answer

If the land was purchased with the intention of resale, Zakaat is payable on the current market value of the land. If it was purchased for any other purpose for example for personal use, then Zakaat is not payable on that land.
