Will the child be a Syed?

Question

I want to ask a very important question please. tell me if mother is SYED and father is SHAIKH then what child will be ?? a SHAIKH or SYED this is a very important of my live please clear me

Answer

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

In Islam, the child follows the lineage of his father and not that of the mother. Since, the father is a Shaikh, the child will be a Shaikh and not a Syed.
