I heard there are 2 types of sperm mani and mazi. If mazi comes out of the private parts whilst keeping a fast but the person does not touch the private parts to release it, would the fast be broken?

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

There are three types of fluids that emit from the private parts besides urine.

1. Mani-Sperm: A white thick fluid which emits at the time of ejaculation.
2. Mazi-Pre-coital fluid: A clear thin fluid which emits due to sexual arousement.
3. Wadi-Liquid that precedes urine.

However, if a person masturbates then his fast will break. He will have to make up that fast but kaffārah will not be necessary.

ما يفسد الصوم ويوجب القضاء من غير كفارة … ( أو ) أنزل ( بتفخيذ أو بتبطين ) أو عبث بالكف ( أو ) أنزل من ( قبلة أو لمس ) لا كفارة عليه لم ذكرنا (مراقي الفلاح مع حاشية الطحطاوي ص 676 العلمية)

If mani or mazi comes out whilst a person is fasting, this will not invalidate the fast.

 (أو قبل) ولم ينزل (أو احتلم أو أنزل بنظر) ولو إلى فرجها مرارا (أو بفكر) وإن طال مجمع
