I was reading the book by Karen Armstrong about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). There is mentioned that at one point of time prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has 5 wives.

I was reading the book by Karen Armstrong about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). There is mentioned that at one point of time prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has 5 wives.

Was it before the revelation related to 4 wives or after that?
If after the revelation than what was the reason of 5 wives?
