My wife wants to continue with fasting yet, my wife suffers from illness which may break her fast.

Question

Respected Mufti Sahib, my wife is very much determined to keep up with her fasting however, in the past, she has had Urinary Tract Infections due to lack of water consumption causing utmost distress. If by any chance this occurs, what should she do instead to fulfill her obligation to fast. Your kind assistance would be appreciated. Jazakallah.

Answer

If the distress due to the urinary tract infection is unbearable then the
fast may be terminated. However , we advise you to consult with your
physician in order to overcome the problem.
