Hamid, what is its meaning ?

Question

Should the ones that call themselves "Hamid" rather be called "Abdelhamid" instead ?.

Answer

Hamid is derived from the Arabic root 'Hamd' which means 'to praise'. Hamid
means 'the praised one'.

It is permissible to call one only as Hamid.
