Question

In his article he categorically states it is haram to take part in non-Muslim politics which is in sharp contrast to your fatwa (ref: 1498). Jazakamullah khairan

Answer

If a Muslim is able to maintain his Islamic values and principles, he may participate in politics to advance the course of Islam and Muslims. At least, he may use his official position from within to remove difficulty or obstacles from the path of the Muslims.

It is not absolutely prohibited to participate in politics.
