where did the word Allah come from
Question
Where did word "Allah" originate from?, also is it true that non Muslims before Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used word "Allah" to address to the god(s) they believed in? , and if they did, than who did they refer to as “Allah”, as they worshipped many gods including idles?
Answer
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah
Brother/Sister in Islam
- The word Allah comes from the Arabic word al-ilah, which means ‘divine’.
- The non Muslim used ‘’Allah’’ to refer to god (Allah), but they committed shirk by believing in many other gods and idols.
- The book ‘Zabur’ was sent to Dawood (as)
- If one wants to see the Prophet (saw) his dream, then he should recite Daruud shareef frequently, and follow his Sunnah.
- This is the command of Allah and Shariah. We do not understand the wisdom and making tawaaf 7 times. It is the spirit of a mu’min to accept the laws of Allah whether we understand the reason or not
