when does hijra for muslims in this day and age become wajib
Question
i married a women as a second wife only with the intention for deen. to teach her and her children the deen. i tried to have sexual relations wit h her on several occasions but im not sexually attracted to her so i cant have relations with her. what should i do. i tried to have her marry other brothers who is interested in her and who can moreso give her , her rights than i can but she says that she only wants to be with me. what should i do.

Answer
1. If your second wife is prepared to forego her rights and live with you, that is in order.
2. In principle, if a Muslim is being restricted from practicing on Islam as was the situation with Rasulullah and the Sahaaba [radhiallaahu anhu], then Hijrah will be compulsory. Today, freedom of religion forms part of democracy. Muslims are not restricted from practising and adhering to Islam. The Hijrah that is important in this time and age is the Hijrah of sins. There are all forms of sins and attractions around the world, Muslims should make Hijrah and abstain from sins.
