Is buying a property on both husband and wife name acceptable ?
Question
Is buying a property on both husband and wife name acceptable ? can we agree to have property on both our names . i heard from someone it not islamic. want clarification on this. house is to be registered on my name and hers. as i wish she to have the house as well.
Answer
It is permissible for the husband and wife to jointly purchase a house and register the house on their name.
If either spouse purchase the house solely on his/her name, then he/she could sell a share of the house to the other spouse and enter into a partnership. The house could be registered as a partnership between the spouses. The ratio of the shares could be equal or different.
