But people in our family do. When the child is born, we know they will take pictures, will we get gunnah for this even though we have told them not to take the pictures?

Meaning of names:

1. Hamza – lion; uncle of Nabi [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam]; one of the martyrs of Uhud

2. Faraz – ascent / height

3. Ayesha – Well off; well to do; prosperous; Wife of Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam]. Daughter of Abu Bakr [radhiallaahu anhu].

4. Fatima – to wean; daughter of Nabi [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam]; mother of Hadhrat Hasan and Husayn [radhiallaahu anhuma].

5. Salma – umm Rafi; companion

Shari’ah has not specified any du’aa at the time of labour. The pain of labour is itself very rewarding.

Pictures are forbidden in Islam. Those who take pictures will be sinful. Your duty is to stop it. If after telling them they still desist, then you are not responsible for their actions. However, you should also advise them and tell them what they are doing is wrong and they need to respect the laws of Allah and respect our feelings on the matter.
