Question

For 21 years I contribute to a compulsory pension fund where a portion is paid by the employer and a portion by me. Is Zakaat payable?Is it payable on both the employers and employees contributions?

Answer

Zakaat will be compulsory only on your contributions to the pension fund, if your contriibutions is equivalent to or more than Nisaab (amount on which zakaat becomes compulsory).
