supposing, one is looking back at an individual situation, and doesn't remember for sure, if he said words that effect divorce or not, how sure would he have to be in order for the divorce to take place?

Answer

The general principle is, ?Certainty is not eliminated by doubt.? (al-Ashbaah)

There was certainty about the Nikah. That will not be eliminated by a mere doubt.
