can we get a paper copy of an islamic divorce?

Question

The person who I am wanting to marry was married before and has received his English divorce he says that he issued his wife a talaaq by saying it three times to her but my family want to see a paper copy of this as they don?t want further complications. Can this be obtained and how as his talaaq took place about 3 years ago?

Answer

An easy way would be to make him sign a legal declaration stating that he has divorced his wife "so and so" according to Islamic law. This could be done under the supervision of a lawyer.
