I have been Islamically divorced from my ex-husband for 3 years. However, the Divorce in the USA has not finalized. Can I look for another husband, pending finalization?

Answer

According to Shari'ah, a divorcee may remarry upon the expiry of the Iddah (three menstrual cycles or till birth if pregnant). This is regardless of whether she has received a western divorce or not, as such a divorce doesn't hold any weight in the eyes of Shariah.
