From a Hanafi point of view, can we eat catfish?

Question

As-Salaam Alaikum, I have been told by several people that for Muslims, it is not permissible to eat catfish. One of the many reasons being that it probably eats dirt. I am not quite sure. I would greatly appreciate, if I could find out if it is permissible to eat catfish? Jazakallah.

Answer

It is permissible to eat catfish.
