Can we perform aqeeqah on our son when he is at any age before baligh?

Question

At the time of his birth we did not have enough money to perform aqeeqah after 7 days. Could we postpone the aqeeqah when we have enough means ? Wassalam

Answer

It is Mustahabb to perform Aqeeqah. If one does not have the means to perform Aqeeqah, they do not have to do so. Aqeeqah may be performed later when one has the means to do so.
